Buhari praises sultan of Sokoto at 66

The president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.), joined forces with the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Wednesday to celebrate the entire Muslim Ummah, who will turn 66 on August 24, 2022.

The president’s message was contained in a statement signed late Wednesday by Garba Shehu, his senior special assistant for media and publicity.

The statement is titled “President Buhari Celebrates Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III at 66:00”.

Buhari described the monarch as a spiritual leader who continues to champion the cause of peace and unity in the country by regularly advising institutions, professionals and officials to adhere to acceptable standards.

“President Buhari commends the sultan for his patriotic role in always advocating for a better Nigeria by working with religious, traditional and political leaders to always guide followers in making the right choices that secure and ensure a better future.

“As the respected leader of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs turns 66, the president recognizes the maturity and selflessness of the Sultan of Sokoto since he took the throne in 2006,” the statement said.
