Ghana outclassed perennial rivals Nigeria 2-0 in the first leg of their African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier at Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.
The first half ended goalless and the hosts had the biggest advantage.
Ghana were awarded a penalty two minutes after the break when captain Tope Olusesi worked the ball into the penalty area.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh coolly sent the ball past goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka.
The home side increased the pressure on the Nigerian defense and were rewarded for their persistence when Seidu Suaij shot home after being knocked out by David Abagna.
The reverse match will take place next Saturday at Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja
The overall winner is guaranteed a place at CHAN 2023 in Algeria.
