Sokoto State Police Commissioner Usaini Gumel has reassured hospital management and staff at the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Kware with increased security in and around the hospital grounds.
Gumel gave the assurance on Friday when he visited the hospital, as part of measures to strengthen the relationship and build cooperation with agencies.
He reiterated his commitment to live up to expectations, while assuring that the Nigerian police will not neglect its mandate to protect people’s lives and property.
He expressed his appreciation for the quality of service and facilities within the hospital.
Gumel who inspected the facilities expressed his satisfaction and praised the hospital management for the overwhelming infrastructural developments carried out by the management.
Earlier in his comments, the hospital’s medical director, Prof. Shehu Sale, asked the police for help in ensuring better security in the hospital and the surrounding area.
Sale said that security is paramount to peaceful coexistence and that people can conduct their affairs freely and without interference.
He said that the hospital provided services to citizens around the clock and needed a conducive atmosphere for the staff to perform better.
The medical director assured the police’s commitment and support in their mandate to protect life and property at all times.
During the meeting, the police’s commitment to support management was resolved by providing a safe environment for patients and staff and strengthening security equipment in the hospital.
The Commissioner’s entourage included DCP John Nwokolo, ACP. Yakubu Muhammad, CSP Salihu Nababa, CSP Ghali Nakamba, SP. Kabir Ahmad, DSP. Halidu Malan, among others.
