Deplorable Roads: Ekiti Assembly Calls Up State, Federal Agencies

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has convened state and federal agencies with the responsibility of maintaining roads due to the deplorable condition of roads in the state.

This followed the passing of a motion by Majority Leader, Chief Gboyega Aribisogan, over the appalling condition of roads in the state.

Aribisogan presented the motion and called for immediate corrective action.

He mentioned several roads, including Ado/Ikere/Akure Road, Aramoko/Igede/Itawure Road, Ikole/Ayedun/Omuo Road and Ado/Illawe/Igbara Odo Road, which connect the state to other states in the country.

The House decides to invite the State Ministry of Work and Transport, Public Works and other involved bodies for an explanation.

It also decided to invite all federal agencies responsible for road repair and maintenance to explain why the roads were in such bad shape.

Previously, Ms Yemisi Ayokunle, Constituency 1 of Ekiti South West, has drawn the House’s attention to the collapse of the Ado/Illawe Road Bridge on matters of urgent public interest.
