Galatasaray table final bid for Nwakaeme

According to According to Turkish publication Sporx, Galatasaray have made one last attempt to capture Nigerian striker Anthony Nwakaeme.

Nwakaeme has been without a club since he left Trabzonspor at the end of last season after his contract expired.

The 33-year-old became a fan favorite after playing a key role in guiding the Black Sea Storm to their first Super Lig title in three decades.

The Nigerian forward was one of the most effective players in Turkey’s elite division last season, contributing 13 goals and 10 assists in 30 games.

Despite his popularity among club supporters, the Süper Lig champions were unwilling to meet the financial demands of the one-cap Super Eagles, forcing him to leave as a free agent.

Since becoming a free agent, Fernabache and Galatasaray have emerged as the top candidates for his signature.

However, Galatasaray’s poor return to goal so far this season has forced the club to rekindle their interest in Nwakaeme and hopes to convince the striker to accept their offer to join the club.

Gala has not had a breakthrough in negotiations with Nwakaeme despite repeated attempts to secure his signature and is therefore believed to have made their final offer for the player.

Galatasaray has offered the successful player a contract of €1.1 million for one year, the website wrote.

“If the Nwakaeme front accepts the latter proposal and the management decides on Nwakaeme’s transfer, then the star footballer will officially wear the Yellow-Red jersey. Negotiations are expected to end negatively in the event of a counter-offer.”

Nwakaeme, who joined Trabzonspor in 2018, was a key player for the club, playing 145 games in all competitions and scoring 47 goals and 40 assists.
