MURIC, MMWG Praise Egbewole’s Appointment as UNILORIN VC

THE Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has praised the University of Ilorin for adhering to “high standards and global best practices” in appointing its new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole.

In a message signed by the director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, MURIC congratulated Professor Egbewole, who will succeed Professor Sulyman Age AbdulKareem, whose five-year tenure ends on October 15, 2022.

The organization said: “Egbewole, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has spent 25 years in college. He is a lawyer with a doctorate in law and jurisprudence. He is therefore ideally suited for the position of Vice-Chancellor.

“We are delighted with Professor Wahab Egbewole on this lofty appointment. For a very hardworking, unparalleled academic and experienced administrator it is a well deserved position. As a silent humanist and unsung philanthropist, university students and staff are in for pleasant surprises in welfare matters. The University of Ilorin has caught a big fish.

“MURIC commends the pro-chancellor and chairman of the board of directors of the University of Ilorin, as well as members of the board of directors for maintaining objectivity and following due process in their search for a new vice-chancellor. It was their adherence to high level standards and global best practices that ultimately resulted in the great asset that Professor Egbewole represents.

Also, the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG) praised the university’s board of directors for appointing Professor Egbewole.

In a congratulatory message to Professor Egbewole, the group described his appointment as the will of Allah and a reward for his academic and professional excellence.

The notice, signed by the National Coordinator, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim and National Secretary, Dr. Nasirudeen Balogun, described the group Egbewole as a deeply religious and God-fearing person.

It said the new headmaster had shown humility, dedication and devotion to duty since joining the university about two decades ago.
