Reconstruction of Nigeria, Collective Action of Every Citizen ―Okowa

Nigerians have been urged to brace for the rebuilding of the country as the task required the collective role of every citizen.

Delta State governor and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who advised on Thursday in Asaba, said Nigerians have a big role to play in living peacefully in unity, as no meaningful development could take place without peace.

Speaking to traditional rulers in the state at the Secretariat of the Traditional Ruler Council in Asaba on Thursday, Okowa praised them for ensuring that there was peace in their various kingdoms.

According to him, I’ve come for you to have a moment with all of you because I’ve been so busy for a while, especially this year which is an election year.

He said: “I must take this opportunity to thank all our royal fathers for the great role they play in their different kingdoms, because I know that once all their kingdoms are well, all Delta will be well. -state.

“I am always proud of the fact that Delta State is peaceful because our royal fathers are doing an amazing job in the state. In addition to the work they do to keep their kingdoms as peaceful as possible, they have continued to pray for our state.

“I cannot ignore the role our royal fathers have continued to play in ensuring peace in our state,”

He praised the Delta Princes for the bond that existed between them and which he believed had led to peace that pervades the entire state.

“Your Majesties, you have continued to attract yourselves to each other and as you continue to connect with each other, you are in effect establishing an eternal bond between our people in Delta State.

“And to that extent we have stayed together as a united people, despite the differences in our languages. So I want to thank you all for this role that you have continued to play.

“Delta State is a mini-Nigeria, but we are united and if our voices could be so closely linked, I believe Nigeria could be really closely linked.

“So I really want to thank you for everything you have done to ensure peace and unity of our people, because without peace and unity it will be difficult to develop our state.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our royal fathers for the support you have given me for almost seven and a half years now,” he said.

The PDP’s presidential running mate urged Nigerians to live in peace to help restore confidence in the nation.

“We had a very difficult start in the state, but things have continued to improve even if we would have had more if the economy was good in our country today.

“I want to insist and pray that we must continue this spirit of unity and I am sure we would still be able to deliver the dividends of democracy until the last day in office.

“I see the brotherhood and love between the traditional institutions in this state and it rejoices in my heart. I hope every state can emulate this and that if we can come together as a people and stay on the side of Justice, we will be able to remove ourselves from where we are now.

“Every Nigerian should realize that we have an individual and collective role to play in other countries to rebuild the foundations of our nation,” Okowa said.

Earlier, Delta State Traditional Rulers Council chairman and Okpe Kingdom’s Orodje, HRM Orhue I, said traditional rulers in the state were grateful to Governor Okowa for his unparalleled support for the traditional institution in the state.

They pledged their continued support for the governor’s stronger Delta vision.
