As Nigeria intensifies its fight against oil thieves threatening the country, the Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has joined other commandos to reconstruct its anti-vandalism unit with two gunboats to fight against oil theft and vandalism to ramp up in the state.
The command has therefore been commended by the commander-general, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for the timely reconstruction of the anti-vandal command to wage war against vandals and oil thieves.
dr. Audi said the disbandment and subsequent reconstruction of the unit across the country was necessary to reposition the Corps to effectively implement its legal mandate to protect national assets, especially petroleum pipelines and other oil installations.
He added that it also aims to end all forms of sabotage in the oil sector through the arrests and careful prosecution of oil thieves, their sponsors and all those who illegally trade in petroleum products.
