Why Atiku traveled to Europe

People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar will travel to Europe on a business trip Friday afternoon (today).

Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, made this known in a statement Friday, debunking claims that the former vice president traveled for health reasons.

He said Atiku’s trip abroad will begin immediately after his Friday meeting in Lagos with the leadership of Nigeria’s Pentecostal community.

The statement read: “Today’s trip is a continuation of an earlier business trip from 3 weeks ago.

“At the end of his European trip, the former Vice President will also take the opportunity to visit his family in Dubai.

“His trip is for business and family purposes and has nothing to do with medical records insinuated in some circles.”

On Wednesday, the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, announced a two-week vacation in Europe, handing over the mantle of leadership in acting capacity to the national vice-chairman North, Iliyasu Damagum.
